Horsted School | Paxton Door Access Control Installation

HQ Systems were appointed to enhance security at Horsted School through the installation of a modern Paxton door access control system. The school required a reliable and easy-to-manage solution that would secure key entry points, improve site safety for staff, students, and visitors, and continue operating even in the event of a power failure.

Our Solution

Working closely with the school, we designed and installed five Paxton door access control systems at strategic locations across the site, providing secure and controlled access to key areas.

To further strengthen perimeter security, we also upgraded the school’s main entrance by installing two new Paxton video intercom units at the vehicle entrance gate and adjacent pedestrian gate. The new intercoms feature integrated HD cameras, proximity fob access, PIN code entry, and two-way communication, providing a significant improvement over the existing single-button entry system.

The gate intercoms were fully integrated into the school’s existing Paxton Net2 access control platform, allowing staff to remotely manage visitor access. A new Paxton handset was installed within the reception area, enabling reception staff to view live video, communicate with visitors, and securely grant access without leaving their desk.

Each door access controller was fitted with an integrated battery backup, ensuring the system remains fully operational during power outages. This provides continuous protection and gives the school confidence that security is always maintained.

To minimise disruption, all installation works were completed during the school holidays, allowing our engineers to deliver the project safely and efficiently without impacting teaching, staff, or the day-to-day operation of the school.

Conclusion

The completed installation has provided Horsted School with a comprehensive, future-ready access control solution that enhances security across both the building and its perimeter. With secure door access, intelligent video intercom technology, remote visitor management, and uninterrupted operation during power failures, the school now benefits from a modern security system that improves safeguarding while remaining simple for staff to manage.

A fully integrated access control solution, delivering secure entry management, intelligent visitor access, and enhanced protection for students, staff, and visitors.
